Budapest
Airport – Budapest Airport (Ferihegy)
is about 28km from the city centre. It is a small
modern airport and passing through is fast and pleasant.
Arriving passengers have access to the Tourist Office,
Carhire companies and similar services. Departing
passengers have a well stocked Duty Free Shop.
Hungary is now a full member of the European Union
and so there are some restrictions on duty free purchases.
However, alcohol, even for EU travellers is excellent
value. Other shops for departing passengers are very
expensive.
Many airlines have flights to Budapest
- from London, UK, and Europe city airports –
and low fares are on offer. Journey time from UK airports

Midlands, British Airways, Sky Europe, and Malev Hungarian
Airlines fly direct from the UK.

When you arrive at Budapest Airport there are a number
of ways of getting into the centre of the
city.
Taxi is the quickest but agree a
price first or use Tele 5 taxis who have set fares
to Budapest centre (Tel. 355 5555).
There is an Airport Minibus Service (Tel.
296 8555). These have a special flat fare
from the airport to anywhere Budapest – like
right to your hotel! They have a desk in the Airport
Arrivals Hall and you can buy tickets there. Ask about
a return ticket. You can reserve the Minibus to collect
you and bring you back to the airport at the end of
your holiday either at the airport desk or by phone
from your accommodation (do it the day before departure).
You can also take a bus and metro to the
city centre. Take the number 93 bus to the
Blue Metro line (M3) Station (Kobánya-Kispest)
and go by Metro to your destination.
