Budapest
Theatres – Budapest is a city full
of culture and it is no surprise to find it has many
theatres, opera houses, concert halls etc, with performances
to suit all tastes.
The State Opera House Budapest is
a fine building, somewhat reminiscent of the Vienna
Opera House. But the inside is stunning and just has
to be seen. Try to go to an opera or concert here
so that you can soak up the sumptuous interior, the
gilded décor, the ceilings, the staircase etc.
Erkel Theatre is Budapest’s
second opera house. While the décor is not
as spectacular as the State Opera House, the Erkel
Theatre offers an attractive range of performances.
There’s also the Budapest Operetta
Theatre for lighter offerings.
Classical music concerts are also held in many other
venues including St Matthias Church.
Many venues have Folk and Traditional Music
and Dance and it is best to get up to date
information from your Hotel Reception or from a Tourist
Office.
